Pinky and the Brain

The scene opens with Pinky (Michael Macbeth) running as if in an exercise wheel. As the theme song fades, Pinky predictably, and in his characteristic obliviosity, innocently asks, "What we gonna do tonight, Brain?" And just as predictably, Brain (Joel Cochinet) replies, "The same thing we do every night, Pinky: we're going to try and take over the world!"

Pinky innocently continues, "How we gonna do that, Brain?" The audience's blood runs cold when Brain answers, "With my new genetically engineered virus. It's 100% contagious and 100% effective. I'll just release it into the atmosphere like so"—the audience gasps and unconsciously starts holding its collective breath—"and it will spread like wildfire. And everyone who has been infected by the virus will have uncontrollable urges to do good things for me. That's why I call it the 'DGTFB Virus'—that stands for 'Do Good Things For Brain.' People will do anything I ask them to! I'll be king of the world! Bwahahahahaha!"

"Now that the virus has been released, Pinky, all that remains to be done is to activate the virus with this little device: The Acme PVA®, which stands for 'Photonic Virus Activator.'"

Pinky, who has the attention span of a gnat, responds, "Sounds fun, Brain. How's it work?" Brain's evil mind is reveling in his imminent inauguration as King of the World, and he gleefully replies, "All you have to do is take this PVA here, aim it at someone, and push that button. The flash of red light will activate the virus and people will start doing good things for me!"

Pinky takes the PVA and says, "This button right here?" and flashes himself full in the face with the red virus-activating light! "Oh!" he cries, alarmed. "I just flashed myself! Does this mean I'll have uncontrollable urges to do good things for you, Brain?"

Brain shakes his head and drawls, "No, Pinky. It only works on intelligent life forms. Now go and flash the PVA at everyone you see!" Brain turns on his heel and is gone.

Pinky looks at the Photonic Virus Activator and wiggles its colored filter, which drops off and breaks on the floor. "Oh no! I broke the filter! Well, maybe there's another one in this drawer here." He rummages through the desk drawer and, sure enough, there is another filter. "Hmm. This one is green, not red. Oh well, green is almost the same color." So, whistling, Pinky takes the PVA and starts flashing it at everyone he sees.

But, little does Couch Potato realize as he shakes his head in disgust and hits a button on the remote, that with the filter being the wrong color and all, the virus is not activated in quite the way Brain planned. . . .
