You Can't Get a Man With a Gun

The next number was the delightful little tune "You Can't Get a Man With a Gun" from Annie Get Your Gun. The song bemoans the inability of these four ladies, all of whom are expert marksmen, to "capture" a feller. They've tried shooting them like big game, but that doesn't seem to work.

These four lovelies (Diana Baratta, Sarah Faour, Sherrie Piburn, and Stephanie Trinemeyer)
describe their dilemma exquisitely in the following excerpts:

I'm quick on the trigger; with targets not much bigger
than a pinpoint, I'm number one.
But my score with a feller is lower than a celler,
   Oh, you can't get a man with a gun. . .

If I went to battle with someone's herd of cattle,
You'd have steak when the job was done.
But, if I shot the herder, they'd holler bloody murder,
and you can't shoot a male in the tail like a quail,
   Oh, you can't get a man with a gun. . .

A man's love is mighty, he'll even buy a nightie
for a gal who he thinks is fun.
But they don't buy pajamas for pistol-packin' mamas
and you can't get a hug from a mug, with a slug,
   Oh, you can't get a man with a gun. . .

Here, the four ladies' hearts are going pit-a-pat because they spied a hunk of a cowboy (Brionn Tonkin) walkin' toward them, smilin' kinda friendly-like. They are all instantly infatuated with this dreamboat, and in their romantic haze, they all, with one accord, run toward him with, their rifles aimed square at his chest. With a sharp yelp of astonishment and alarm, the cowboy beats a hasty retreat. (Note that he's no longer in the photo above.) The deflated gals once again realize that their training and upbringing might turn out to be disadvantageous in the long run. . .
